Professional-Grade Platinum-Cure Silicone – TC-5150 is a semi-translucent, 50 Shore A silicone rubber system designed for high-performance mold making, casting, and part production. Strong & Flexible – Excellent tear resistance, 150+ pli (typical), 200–250% elongation, and 1,500+ psi tensile strength provide durable yet flexible molds and parts capable of withstanding repeated use and moderate mechanical stress. Easy 1:1 Mix Ratio – Low viscosity for smooth pouring, with a simple 1:1 mix by weight or volume and minimal bubbles for consistent, reliable results. Fast Room-Temperature Cure – Working time of 30–40 minutes, sets in 50–60 minutes, and can be removed from the mold in about 3–4 hours. For best performance, allow 48 hours to achieve full cure and consistent properties. Versatile Applications – Ideal for functional molds, prototypes, FX props, gaskets, and durable casting parts. Semi-translucent base can be easily pigmented with BJB’s 8100 Series Silicone Pigments. TC-5150 Silicone Rubber – 50A Firm Platinum-Cure Silicone for High-Performance Molds & Casting TC-5150 is a professional-grade platinum-cure silicone rubber system designed for high-performance mold making, casting, and part production. With a firm 50 Shore A hardness, excellent tear resistance, and low viscosity, this system produces durable, flexible, and semi-translucent silicone molds that maintain shape and detail under repeated use and moderate mechanical stress. Formulated with a 1:1 mix ratio by weight or volume, TC-5150 is extremely user-friendly. It provides a 30–40 minute working time and cures at room temperature in just 3–4 hours, allowing makers to produce strong, precise molds and parts quickly and reliably. For maximum strength and consistency, allow up to 48 hours of full cure time before putting molds into regular use. The semi-translucent appearance of TC-5150 makes it easy to monitor casting inside the mold cavity, while its compatibility with BJB’s 8100 Series Silicone Pigments lets you create custom colors for functional parts, prototypes, and FX applications. Heat Tolerance Notice: TC-5150 is not intended for high-heat applications. While some silicones tolerate elevated temperatures, this formulation may degrade under heat stress and is best used at room temperature. TC-5150 is designed to cure fully at room temperature, with most properties developing within the first 24 hours. For consistent results, we recommend allowing up to 48 hours before performance testing. Avoid exposing this material to elevated temperatures or thermal cycling to maintain product integrity. Inhibition Warning: Certain materials can prevent or “inhibit” proper curing of TC-5150. These include tin-cure silicones, natural rubbers (like latex), some clays, certain SLA 3D print resins, copper and copper alloys, and lacquer/enamel coatings. If unsure, test a small amount of silicone on the surface before committing to a full mold. A spray-on barrier coat can be used on problem surfaces to prevent cure issues. How to Use: Prepare Materials: Ensure Parts A and B are at room temperature (65–80°F). Use clean containers and mixing tools. Measure & Mix: Combine equal parts of A and B by weight or volume. Mix thoroughly, scraping sides and bottom to ensure a uniform blend. Pour & Process: Pour silicone slowly into the mold container to minimize air entrapment. Degassing under vacuum is recommended for bubble-free results, but not required due to TC-5150’s low viscosity. Cure: Allow to cure at room temperature. Demold after 3–4 hours, but wait 48 hours for full mechanical properties before heavy use. Storage: Store unopened containers at 65–80°F. Purge opened containers with dry nitrogen before resealing to extend shelf life. Whether you’re creating precision molds, functional parts, or durable FX components, TC-5150 provides a strong balance of firmness, flexibility, and detail reproduction that professionals and hobbyists can rely on.
